About Connie

Concetta (Connie) is originally from Newburgh, New York. She’s been drawn to learning more about various spiritual traditions since childhood, and began practicing yoga in college, where she also started learning how to teach. Over the years, she’s lived and practiced in California under her dear teacher Janet Stone, and through many trips back to New York City, she found and fell in love with Jivamukti Yoga in 2019.

Since moving back to New York, Connie has practiced under teachers at The Shala and Souk. She completed her 300-hour advanced training at The Shala in Fort Greene in 2024 under Barbara Verrochi and Kristin Leigh loving guidance, and her 300-hour Jivamukti teacher training at Govardhan Eco Village in India. She currently lives in the East Village with her many plants and teaches in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Yoga has been a consistent, humbling, inspiring, grounding, and saving force in her life.

Teaching Style & Influences

Connie’s greatest teacher is the earth, and the seasonality and rhythm it offers. Her classes are rooted in the Jivamukti traditions—reverant, steady, devotional, and focused on connecting each movement with the breath. She incorporates chanting, teachings, pranayama, to create space for students to move with intention and to connect more deeply to their own inner experience.

She also practices and shares Buddhist meditation techniques, including Lovingkindness and mindfulness. Her motto is: if you can breathe, you can practice yoga. Connie is committed to living her practice and to being a student first and always.

Her dharma is to live a life of spiritual practice and inner inquiry—and to support others in remembering their own wholeness through the tools of yoga, meditation, and community.

Additional Interests

She loves spending time with her loved ones, traveling, going to jazz clubs, arranging flowers and visiting the flower markets, vintage fashion, reading books in coffee shops, studying languages, and soaking in the magic that is unique to New York City.
