    VINYASA & PRANAYAMA

Pranayama practices offered at the beginning or end of our signature Vinyasa class.

This class is for students who have been practicing for some time. Not adequate for beginners.

  • Our Mysore program runs Monday - Friday from 7-9am with Bibi Lorenzetti & Julie Madsen.

Traditional Led Ashtanga - Saturdays 8am

    Friendly Ashtanga - Sundays 8am

Derived from the traditionally called Mysore style Ashtanga, this method of studying yoga asana is tailored to the individual's needs. Postures are taught one by one in a quiet room through individual instruction from a skilled teacher. The practice is taught gradually and according to each person’s needs and abilities.

Our Shala honors the lineage of Ashtanga Yoga as taught by Paramaguru Sri R. Sharath Jois. Bibi Lorezetti is a direct student of Guruji and dedicated to honoring his teachings, and life dedication to the practice.

Mysore Style Ashtanga is a great place for beginners to start their journey!

  • Influenced by the lineage of Ashtanga Yoga, our signature Newburgh Yoga Shala Vinyasa classes are structured to feel like a moving meditation: asanas mindfully threaded together by breath.

Each class includes a gentle warm up, sun salutations, standing & seated postures, inversions, backbends, final relaxation and guided meditation.

You can expect a balanced, rigorous, and clearly delivered experience. This class will leave you feeling rejuvenated and grounded within yourself.

Previous experience with asana practice is required.

  • The Active Series is great for beginners, athletes, and anyone seeking a shorter and accessible practice.

Developed by Sharath Jois and derived from a traditional Ashtanga Yoga practice. It retains all the benefits of the traditional method keeping the linking of movement with breath but includes new more accessible postures for a wider range of students in a modern age and setting.

Students from all levels will be able to participate in a non-intimidating inclusive setting

  • The word Jivamukti broken down means: Liberated (mukti)  Individual (Jiva) The Jivamukti Yoga Method is a path to enlightenment through compassion for all beings. The practice is grounded in five tenets: ahimsa (non-violence), bhakti (devotion), dhyana (meditation), nada (music), and shastra (scripture)

A Jiva class includes each one of these 5 tenets weaved into the practice through Asana, Chanting,  Meditation and Dharma.  It can seen as a useful too both on the mat and off in daily life.

A Jivamukti class is open to all who want to explore their practice both spiritually and physically.

  • Our slow vinyasa classes emphasize on delivering a slower paced vinyasa experience. This class is taught at a steady pace, emphasizing breath, alignment and smooth transitions. This practice is accessible to all levels with a focus on making vinyasa accessible to all, including beginners! With a focus on breath - the slower movements help learn the poses and find what feels best in your body.

  • Hatha Yoga goes beyond the physical practice.  In Sanskrit, the word "hatha" can be translated as "sun" (ha) and "moon" (ta), while "yoga" comes from the word "yug," meaning "union." Together, the name "Hatha yoga" represents a yoga practice that balances the polarities—the sun and moon energy, the light and the dark—within the self. This balance is achieved by pairing physical postures (asanas) with breathing techniques (pranayama). The sequence of poses in Hatha yoga will vary from class to class but tend to follow a general structure.

  • Yin & Restorative yoga are a wonderful complement to the more active, vigorous practices, and is designed to regulate the nervous system, and prepare the body and mind for meditation and/or deep rest.

We'll hold each Yin posture for 3-5 minutes, using breath to access depth, volume, and space within the asanas.

    VIN/YIN

In this Vinyasa | Yin, we will spend the first half moving (raising Yang) and building heat to warm the body, soften the mind and expend any restless energy. Then we will transition into a series of seated, supine, and side-lying postures (settling Yin) for a more restorative experience.
