PRE-REQUISITES

  • 200-hour certification or teaching experience (if seeking to receive a certificate upon completion)

  • Minimum 2 years of consistent yoga practice

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Attend classes at Newburgh Yoga Shala regularly 

  • Attend all scheduled meetings in person or livestream

  • Complete all written homework and required reading

INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM :

Only for students attending all 3 modules

  • Three 1-on-1 mentorship sessions (one per module) with a senior teacher to explore something in particular: subjects of interest, practice teaching, review sequences, learn chants, develop a teaching voice, etc…

  • 5 in-class privates over the 3 modules

  • Personal research project

PERSONAL RESEARCH PROJECT:

The research project will culminate in a final presentation along with an asana class (only for those seeking to teach). Examples of research project topics:

  • How yoga impacts the body (physical, subtle, nervous system, brain..)

  • The relationship between yoga and social justice

  • Yoga philosophy or history

  • Sequencing and assisting

  • Co-teaching classes, workshops, and retreats

  • An exploration of specific classical texts

  • Reading, speaking, writing, and memorizing Sanskrit

  • Vedic Chanting

  • Yoga therapy or yoga for specific conditions

  • Writing and delivering dharma talks

  • Teaching meditation or pranayama in the workforce or in school

  • An exploration of Chanting and deities
