What Should I Prepare Before Signing Up For A Yoga Teacher Training?

We recommend you take some time to reflect on what you hope to gain from the experience: are you looking for an opportunity to deepen your own practice? To share your love of yoga with others? Or maybe you dream of one day becoming a world-renowned instructor? Whatever it may be for you, make sure you are clear on your why, as this journey is one of love and dedication!

What do training weekends look like?

The group meets 2 weekends a month. Each weekend consists of 3 hours of practice and 10 hours of workshop and teaching practice.

Here is a sample schedule of our weekends together:

Fridays:  4-6pm workshop

Satrudays & Sundays: 

10-11:30am asana practice (regular class on our schedule)

12-2pm workshop

2-2:30pm break

2:30-4pm Practical: Teaching practice to integrate material learned

Is this program Yoga Alliance certified?

Yes! You will be able to register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT-200 after completing this program and receiving your teaching certificate.

Who is this training for?

Anyone seeking to deepen their knowledge of yoga, take their practice to the next level and learn how to teach Vinyasa Yoga (not a requisite). 

How much time can I expect to dedicate outside of weekends?

  • We require a minimum of 3 asana practices per week (including the TT weekend ones). 

  • You can expect to have reading material to read along with the course material. 

  • Teaching practice is at the core of our training. You can expect to spend a lot of your personal time getting together with your classmates to practice teaching with each other. We ask for 3 recorded practice sessions before your final.

  • You will be required to observe 3 classes.

What if I have to miss a weekend session?

You are allowed to miss up to 5 sessions, as long as you watch recordings of those sessions for attendance credit.

Will I have one on one time with teachers?

Each trainee gets one 30 minute 1-on-1 session with one of our lead teachers.

What are some things I can do to prepare for the training program?

  • Start Practicing Regularly

  • Make sure you can do all basic poses before starting our yoga teacher training program. You don’t need to know it all, but being familiar with the basics is a must. If you are brand new to Yoga we recommend taking out Beginners Course and a month of classes with us first.  

  • Do your research: There are a lot of Yoga teacher trainings out there, so we suggest  you take the time to research your options. We are a traditional, lineage based studio, our Vinyasa training reflects. We encourage you to try our classes before signing up so as to endure this is how you want to teach.

  • Prepare yourself and those around you: A Yoga teacher training is a life-changing experience that will affect you in all areas of your life. You can expect to learn yoga asanas, breathing techniques, anatomy, meditation, philosophy and how to incorporate all that  you learn into your lives and eventually those of others. Yoga is the ultimate mirror to our inner landscape, no matter where you are on your journey, yoga teacher training can be an invaluable resource for growth and change.

What are the requirements to receive the certification?

At the end of the training you will be expected to:

  •  present a 30-minute mini class in our style

  • Complete a written exam

  • Complete 3 observations

  • Have attended at least 75 classes from when you register

  • Attended to all weekends (or watched the recordings of the once missed)

What happens after the training?

Once you have completed your training we offer a few ways of continuing with us:

  • Mentorship program with our senior teachers

  • Yin intensives

  • Donation classes on rotation
