Cusco

Sacred Cusco: Ancient Temples & Inca Mysticism

Our exploration of Cusco begins at the legendary Coricancha — the Temple of the Sun — once filled with golden artifacts and devoted to the worship of Inti, the Sun God, at the height of the Inca Empire. We continue to the magnificent Cathedral on the Main Square, a stunning testament to colonial history built upon the very stones of the ancient Sacsayhuamán fortress. We then wander into the enchanting cobblestone quarter of San Blas, where Inca noble dwellings give way to artisan workshops and the beautiful 16th-century San Blas Church.

Venturing into the hills above the city, we stand before the awe-inspiring ramparts of Sacsayhuamán, taking in sweeping panoramic views of Cusco below. We then visit the sacred ruins of Qenqo, believed to be a site of ancient agricultural ritual, and the commanding Inca military complex of Puka Pukara. Every stone in this city carries the memory of a civilization deeply connected to the cosmos, the earth, and the divine.
